Joining procedure

The joining of formed plastic parts with metal deep-drawn parts is realized by:

  • Ultrasound-welding technology
  • Bond-pressing with specific dosing and wetting units
  • Crimping procedures
  • Injection molding with individual handling units

Plastic and metal at a permanent juncture.

We offer a enormous experience in various joining processes. Our technology spectrum ranges from crimping to adhesive bonding to in-mold injection.

Which procedure you choose depends on different factors: the numbers of parts manufactured throughout the product life cycle, individual part geometry and functional requirements.

  • Crimping/Bending
Especially suitable for parts with visible edges.
The joining of the plastic carrier part with the deep-drawn aluminum overlay is achieved by wrapping/forming the edge of the aluminium over edges of the plastic carrier - a process we call "crimping".
  • Adhesive bonding
Especially recommended with flat parts. The joining of the aluminium and plastic is not visible with this special adhesive technique. The joining of the plastic carrier part with the deep-drawn aluminium overlay is achieved by the application of a bonding component between the plastic and metal.
  • In-mold injection/In-mold decoration
Especially suitable for parts which come into contact with people or other objects, due to better part stability. In a first step the aluminium sheet is formed, then in a second step the plastic is injected into the aluminium mold.

Direct in-mold inject of deep-drawn aluminium trays with ABS / PC, PA, PC with and without fiberglass - the advantages:

  • Improved form/fit
  • Cost savings
  • Realization of tighter radii
